A Life Reflects

by Mary Beth on March 19, 2012

Self-righteousness is cold as ice,
Its face exhausting make up of nice.
Masking love at any price,
Idolatry is a disloyal, faithless paradise.

Standing eager for recognition,
Yet pushing away quiet wisdom.
Heedless of true position,
Caught within, a grave of competition.

Unable to taste and see
Quietness and trust lay humbly.
To surrender all is no guarantee;
Repentance and rest will set you free.

Gracious mercy like the rain,
Tenderly seeks others for their gain.
Its face abounding grace to pain,
Trustworthiness reflects the Spirit’s reign.

Each soul a disposition; a face;
A life to reflect its embrace.
A self-righteous life out of place,
Or mercy from saving grace?

Quiet wisdom at home is our position:
Who we are in Christ, not tradition.
Send us out for the great commission,
Victory gained from the Spirit’s ignition.  ~mba
