On His Shoulders-The Wisdom of God

by Mary Beth on December 19, 2017

“God has put an eternal difference between light and darkness,
good and ill, which no creature’s conceit can alter;
and therefore no man’s judgement is the measure of things …”
~Richard Sibbes

My previous post,  On His Shoulders

invites us to ponder the office of Christ Jesus

which exists and moves forward in divine judgement,

as the kingdom of grace within us.

A righteous, peaceable government as

Christ’s workmanship within our hearts and lives.

Now within part two, On His Shoulders-

lets ponder together the wisdom of God in Christ.

To order our ways aright.

Scripture speaks to the wisdom from above is first of all pure,

than peaceable, gentle, open to reason,

full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

As Christ sets up His government within our souls,

it’s on His shoulders to guide, teach, and lead us

towards spiritual formation;

to listen, discern and understand with His perspective.

To plead as a humble child for the mercy of God.

For judgement alone will not work a change of heart

to alter the ego.

Grace is needed by the Spirit of God

to alter the bent,

sway of the will and win over our hearts.

For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid,
which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:11

To look down upon God’s way and live at large,

seeking all liberty to the flesh,

is to turn from life and the whole soul is out of joint.

Only through Christ in His death, burial and resurrection,

are we to receive restoration in all things-

through His office of grace and truth.

Dear sister and brother in Christ,

look to our only hope found in Jesus Christ.

The book of Romans holds a vast supply of encouragement,

especially trusting Christ as the great Shepherd of our souls.

“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has been his counselor?”
Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever! Amen.”
~Romans 11:33-36

Wisdom in the Asking

Thank you for this quiet hour,

The bright morning sunrise & light.

In your presence of wisdom and mercy,

Proclaiming all to be.

My heart before your mercy seat,

Vulnerable to seek, wait and rest.

Ardent love, childlike trust,

An abiding purity.

Wisdom in the asking and need

Will be accompanied by faith indeed.

To find silence and solitude speak loud,

Your divine voice in the crowd.

My Lord, how glorious and majestic you are!

From all the earth to the stars

Brilliant, pure beauty and wisdom to soar,

For you my Beloved, I hunger and adore!

“My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love,
so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding
in order that they may know the mystery of God,
namely, Christ,
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Colossians 2:2,3
