Wholehearted

“If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy,

the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”     ~C. S. Lewis

Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, you are there; If I make my bed in the  depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.  If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”~Psalms 139: 7-12

We all long to have our soul walk in freedom

and to live life to the fullest,

and yet this yearning for sufficiency and rest?

How do we enter into this reservoir of rest?

We need to look to our Creator who wonderfully created us,

to walk in a wholehearted rhythm that finds our rest in Him.

The reality of this wholehearted rhythm

in life is found in Jesus Christ,

who alone is competent to sustain us.

“It is not merely that God looks at human affairs.  The point is that He looks after human affairs. He not only watches us, He watches over us.  It is the watching over us that goes to the heart of divine providence.  It is God’s fatherly care of His creatures that the word providence encompasses.  This means that God is involved in human affairs.”
~R.C. Sproul, The Invisible Hand

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”  ~Heb.1:1-3.

*

“The upholding work of God is also a holy sustaining.  In this regard the term holy refers both to His transcendent majesty and to His perfect righteousness.  There is no flaw of intelligence, wisdom, or righteousness in His work of sustenance.  What God keeps, He keeps righteously.  To what end or purpose does God uphold all things?  It is to the praise of His glory.”
~R.C. Sproul

“My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.” Psalms 63:8

By God’s grace, may our hearts seek to walk and be Christ-like in Spirit and in Truth that calls us to a path in singleness of heart.  A biblical believer that follows Christ, enters into discipleship. It’s my aim to encourage and exhort others as I have pursued in my own heart, to be all that He created us to be and be willing to do whatever it takes for His pleasure and glory.

“He has shown you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”  ~Micah 6:8

Word of God:

“For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” ~Hebrews 4:12
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  For this reason, make every effort to add to you faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.”   ~2 Peter 1:3-9
Our God is so beautiful,

that in His call to be holy,

dwells the call to wholeness.

A wholeness that is clean and simple;

a pleasing rhythm of life to refresh our body,

 soul, mind and spirit.

To respond and surrender to His invitation of wholeness in life, calls us to the way He intended for us to have life:  a life of holiness through the work and life of Jesus Christ.  Instead of self arranging for a pain free lifestyle, we can walk with God and learn to trust in Christ with all our heart through the struggles of being human.  Day by day, step by step trusting.

“God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  ~Romans 8

It is through the counsel, comfort, conviction and creativity of the Holy Spirit that we grow and learn to walk with God in holiness and live with an undivided heart.

“But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.  Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
~2 Corinthians 3: 16-18

True biblical community

“See to it, that none of you has an unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.  But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”  ~Hebrews 3:12-13
“Be imitators of God and live a life of love…”  ~Ephesians 5: 1,2
In Christ, we can experience and faithfully live a gospel-centered life that is holy; wholesome, healthy and sustainable for God’s glory and our joy.

To live a life worthy of the calling we have received, we need to fix our eyes on Jesus, press on and take hold of that for which Christ took hold of us…forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.  We need each other to encourage and remind out hearts that true reality is found only in Christ

“My Lord I find that nothing else will do.

Thou art my life, O Christ,

and nothing else will do.”

G. MacDonald

“I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break through gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.  I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
~Isaiah 45:2 & 3
“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified:  That you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God…For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.  May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.  May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”
~1 Thessalonians  4: 3-8 & 5:23,24

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God
-this is your spiritual act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is
-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
~Romans 12

Too eager I must not be to understand.
How should the work the Master goes about Fit the vague sketch my compasses have planned?
He builds me now~and if I cannot see At any time what he is doing with me,
Tis that he makes the house for me too grand. Lord,
set me from self-inspiration free,
And let me live and think from Thee,
not me- Give me thine indignation-which is love.
Blow on me till my love loves burningly; Living by love,
shall love unspeakably.” ~G. MacDonald

“You have made known to me the path of life;
You will fill me with joy in your presence,
With eternal pleasures at your right hand.
One thing that I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek in his temple.”
~Psalms 16 : 11, 27: 4
