Seven Marks of a Disciple

by Mary Beth on April 22, 2017

“…the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake,

and caught all kinds of fish.”  ~Matthew 13:47

A picture is worth a thousand words

His Good Pleasure

May you find in your good pleasure,
Your disciple; your bride,
Creating at your side.
Not my great inspiration or imagination,
Inward furnace burn with the Spirit’s flame; ignition.
Find through your spin of mud and clay,
A bold display, set apart for risk, I pray.
Feed my sheep,” I hear-
Abide in my love; no fear.

What are the marks of a disciple of Jesus Christ?

The word disciple is from the Greek word mathetes~a student, a learner.

The roots of our faith must travel deep into a sustainable foundation,

which is Christ alone.

It demands that Christians dive deep,

into the content and authority of Scripture not only for our hearts,

but also with our minds and all our strength,

for a holistic call to the kingdom of God.

Seven Marks of a Disciple:

-Supreme & Incomparable Love for Jesus.

-Regular Study & Devotion to God’s Word.

-Denial of Self as the Focus of Life.

-Daily Life of Submission to The Cross.

-Allegiance to Christ’s Compelling Leadership.

-Relinquishment of Rights to What God Owns.

-A Reflection of God’s Love to The World.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

~Matthew 28:19,20. (Italics are mine)

“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom,

so that we may present every man complete in Christ.”  Col.1:28

It’s crucial with the help of  the Holy Spirit to remember,

to reflect upon Scripture.

May it divide and penetrate our hearts to sanctify our daily living.

I pray that you will draw near to God,

with a sincere faith through the grace of Christ,

to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

All for the pleasure of God!
