Unaware

by Mary Beth on July 19, 2012

My first visit to Africa!

I’m deeply thankful for the Lord’s perfect timing and faithful ways

to bring us into Ethiopia, Kenya and Mombassa;

to visit their remote villages and to meet these dear sisters and brothers in Christ.

Although it’s been a challenge to be patient for over 20 years,

I continued to have hope for the right timing and opportunity to travel into the beautiful countries of Africa.

The patience was worth it!!

To personally witness the fruit of God’s Spirit and powerful Word

that radically has and will transform families in remote villages,

especially in an AIDS infested Island and in Chief leaders

individually, and beyond holistically to entire villages!!

God is on the move to deliver from generational bondage in oppressed communities to Himself… is just pure beauty of His glory!!!

The song “Unaware” by Mercy Me, silently played through my heart and mind as we drove hour after hour,

with the view of their quaint huts crafted from mud & thatched roofs.

I’m so drawn to their homes and actually made an attempt to take as many pictures of their huts while traveling,

believing that God is able to see, hear and know each heart within the quaint huts.

Yet praying, that their cry of circumstances would be embraced in the compassion and comfort of God, knowing His desire is for them!

Throughout Africa, many surrounding countries were not aware of God’s providential hand

going forth to the Gamo people and their villages,

yet

God’s mercy and grace powerfully ushered in

a celebration of His Word!

The Seed Company and Word for the World led,

coordinated the prayer and financial partners,

to experience the New Testament celebration and dedication with the Gamo people in Ethiopia.

After viewing The Jesus film in their heart language in 2005,

for the first time summer of 2012,

the Gamo people would receive the New Testament in their own heart language!

How exciting that God’s Word will not return void!  Glory to God!

This is love, hope and joy.  May God in the multitude of His mercies, transform their hearts and entire villages.

I invite you to join with me in prayer,

for the Spirit of God to stir the hearts of the Gamo people to respond personally

to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to surrender wholeheartedly to Him.

“The Word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.
Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
~Hebrews 4:12, 13
