What I Learned from Our Sisters in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Yei, Sedan

by Mary Beth on October 31, 2012

Praise be to our LORD, the God of all hope!

We have the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

to overcome and live godly lives.  2 Peter 1:3-9.

Salvation in and through Christ is the beginning not the end to life,

for where the enemy will pester us, taunt us and weigh us down with doubts,

we have everything we need to overcome in life and godliness.

As anticipated, travels throughout Ethiopia, Kenya, and Yei, Sedan, gave my heart a great love for the women, their faith, and their communities.

Of the many lessons I’ve learned from them, a few stand out in particular.

First, their worship to the Lord in the splendor of His holiness is passionate and beautiful.

Together, we engaged in worship to our great God with all our whole heart, soul, mind and strength.

Early morning devotions invited vibrant dancing and laughter in worship, how refreshing to enjoy God in their historical style and culture.

At one point, we  marched around the room while clapping, jumping, and shouting glory to God.

I learned not only to wake my soul, but to speak to my soul and call forth my vitality in worship for His pleasure.

It was evident, the Word of God is their anchor, hope, and pearl.

For God’s precious promises, precious blood, and precious      is their only hope and stay.

What an honor to trust in the holy Scriptures, to trust in the blood of Christ, and with my sisters ,

together we run to our hope and rest in Christ.

Psalms 27

May the Spirit of the LORD help us to make our hearts His home and dwelling place!
