The Sky Proclaims

 “The Heavens Declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork…

Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out throughout all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
the  precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.”
~Psalms 19

The glory and power of God is clearly displayed,

generously day by day; night by night.

Sometimes creation speaks on the stage of life through a beautiful quietness,

and our hearts respond in wonder and worship.

Sometimes we choose to ignore an acknowledgement altogether,

and sit in our complacency.

Sometimes creation speaks violently,

calling forth our attention, surrender, and frankly, deep trust.

Regardless, in creation seasons rise and fall.

Yet, as our Creator and Sustainer,

our Trinitarian God

 holds all things together.

Our Creator God,

 beautifully proclaims His existence in and through creation,

and faithfully through the holy Scriptures.

First,

His general revelation in creation,

provides everyone with a general revelation of God’s divine greatness,

amazing power, and glory.

God did not create out of some deficiency,

and He is not dependent upon creation.

God has ownership of all things!

He alone is eternal, unchanging and our God of unity.  Psalms 93:2

Everything that exists gives evidence to the existence of God,

and for His glory.

For creation is a means to God…to reflect His existence.   Romans 1

All to worship Him!

Secondly,

Scripture communicates a special revelation:

1.  Clarity of Scripture:

The Bible is written for the common man,

it’s teachings are understood by all who read it with God’s help.

God’s word to specific persons.

 It is possible to have a lack of faith or hardness of heart,

to misintrepret the scriptures. Psalms 1

2.  Necessity of Scripture:

The Bible is necessary to know clarity in teaching for the gospel of Christ,

how to maintain spiritual life,

and to know God’s will.

John 14:6, Psalms 19, Romans 12.

The Bible is not necessary for us to know that God exists,

for all people generally know that God exists through creation.

3.  Sufficiency of Scripture:

The Bible contains all the words of God

 that He intended to give us for each stage of Redemptive history.

Salvation to trust and to obey Him.

2 Timothy 3:16, Deut.  12:32

 He provides for us an understanding of His existence,

through a General revelation of creation,

and through the Special revelation of scripture.

*

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey,
and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, by them is your servant warned,
in keeping them there is great reward.”
Psalm 19:7-11

May our hearts join all creation-

to declare and proclaim to the glory of God!
